On Sept. 29, 2021, then-NSBA President wrote a letter to the . In her letter, Viola asked for “assistance from federal agencies such as the U.S. Department of Justice, FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and the ” to fight the “growing number of threats of violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the nation.”

Garcia would go on to describe parents upset by hot button curriculums, remote learning and other controversies with the following invective:

“As these acts of malice, violence, and threats against public school officials have increased, the classification of these heinous actions could be the equivalent to a form of domestic and hate crimes.”

The NSBA eventually apologized for the letter, saying there was “no justification” for Garcia's choice of words. Emails later revealed that some NSBA directors were upset that Garcia issued the statement unilaterally.

Despite this, U.S. Attorney General issued a memo on Oct. 4 to the FBI and all U.S. Attorney's offices to “address this disturbing trend.” (RELATED: FBI Whistleblower Reveals Bureau Created ‘Threat Tags' to Track Parents)

However, we now have evidence that Secretary of Education solicited Garcia to write her letter slandering America's parents.

Fox News has more on the origins of the NSBA's letter:

Previous emails had revealed that the NSBA was in contact with the White House and in the weeks before it publicly sent the letter.

The emails were obtained by the parents group Parents Defending Education in a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request.

“Should this allegation be true, it would reveal that this administration's pretextual war on parents came from the highest levels,” PDE President Nicole Neily told Fox News Digital.

“Attorney General Merrick Garland unequivocally stated that he based his memo on the NSBA's letter – which in turn, mobilized the FBI and US Attorneys,” Neily added. “If Secretary Cardona was truly involved in this ugly episode, it is a significant breach of public trust, and he should be held accountable.”

On Oct. 13, 2021, Cardona picked Garcia to sit on the prestigious National Assessment Governing Board. The board is responsible for developing nationwide tests to assess student performance.
