Mao Survivor Accuses School Board of ‘Communist Tactics’

-

Xi Van Fleet knows how brutal revolution can be.

As a young girl, she survived Mao Zedong's . Under the traumatic circumstances, two million of her countrymen died.

Desperate to escape oppression, Van Fleet eventually immigrated to the . She settled in Northern Virginia and became a mother. Although worried about the 's orders to investigate protesting parents, Van Fleet has decided to speak out.

This isn't her first time in the spotlight, however. She made headlines in June criticizing critical race theory at school board meetings in Fairfax and Loudoun counties.

In an interview with Fox News, Van Fleet described how she's intimately familiar with the tactics communists have used to destroy traditional culture.

The Basis of Marxist Strategy

In communist states, the party seeks to expand its influence outside of its core supporters by forming coalitions with other groups over common causes. Slowly but surely, they purge the leaders of those groups. Now, Van Fleet says something similar “is happening here in America.”

Per Fox News:

“They call(ed) them racists for a long time, but that did not work,” Van Fleet said, referring to the parents who have spoken out about critical race theory. “So, they have to upgrade to domestic terrorists.”

Attorney General last week announced, among other efforts, a task force to determine how “federal enforcement tools” can be used to prosecute criminal conduct directed toward school personnel. He said harassment and violence against school employees had increased and that “threats against public servants are not only illegal, they run counter to our nation's core values.”

Before the FBI received its new orders, the National School Boards Association (NSBA) requested the use “the U.S. Department of Justice, FBI, Department of Homeland Security and the Secret Service” to combat the “growing number of threats of violence and acts of intimidation occurring across the nation.”

Labeling Parents “Domestic Terrorists”

As Van Fleet alluded, the NSBA's letter compared parents fighting for their children with domestic terrorists. Despite the obvious hyperbole, Attorney General Merrick Garland joined their cause.

Yet Garland hasn't addressed accusations that he has a conflict of interest. Suspiciously, his son-in-law's educational company has lucrative contracts in Virginia and benefits when parents comply with school boards. Parents Ready for School Board Fights

For her part, Van Fleet says she will not be deterred.

Van Fleet told Fox News: “I have to say, this will backfire. If intimidation works, America has fallen a long time ago.”

“I do have a question: What's [the] next step? Is the Tiananmen Square crackdown the next, or the parents who one day risked their lives just to speak out for the children? That's why I'm here,” Van Fleet told Fox News.

For over a decade, 's Cultural Revolution purged the country of “bourgeois” infiltrators. As the movement to eradicate pre-communist elements intensified, chaos devastated the economy.

In the end, the pain and suffering endured by millions was a futile attempt by Chinese leader Mao Zedong to build a lasting legacy.
