Poll Shows How Democrats Really Feel About Trudeau’s Trucker Crackdown

’s decision to infringe on ordinary Canadians’ rights over a mostly peaceful protest should have everyone upset.

The liberal prime minister invoked the Emergencies Act last week, a decision Parliament voted to uphold late Monday. (RELATED: Canada Votes on Decision to Invoke Emergencies Act)

A recent survey from Rasmussen showed that 59% of Americans support the protesting ’s pandemic restrictions. The same percentage also believe a similar protest in our country would be a good idea.

Nearly two-thirds of Democrats feel differently. That’s according to findings from a survey jointly commissioned by the Trafalgar Group and Convention of States Action. Based on their findings, 65% of Democrats support Trudeau’s actions, including freezing bank accounts of anyone linked to the protests.

They also supported tactics like these in Ottawa to quell the demonstrations:

Only 17% of Democrats surveyed disapproved of Trudeau’s response. (RELATED: Trudeau Accuses Jewish MP of Standing With ‘Swastika Wavers’)

The Post Millennial reports:

Of those who do not affiliate with a party, 74 percent said they disapproved of Trudeau’s actions, while 21 percent approved.

The Trafalgar Group surveyed 1,080 likely general election voters between February 18 and 20, as police forces began cracking down on protestors in Ottawa that had congested the city for over three weeks demanding freedom from COVID-19 policies, including vaccine mandates. The poll’s margin of error is 3 percent.

Interestingly, 25 to 34-year-olds had the highest disapproval rating of Trudeau, with 100% disagreeing with his tactics.

Despite the positive response overall, it’s unclear how or even if a U.S. “Freedom Convoy” will materialize.

But officials in Washington aren’t taking any chances. Fox News has more on their suspected preparations, including hiring tow trucks for “public work.”

Pentagon Press Secretary John Kirby said in a statement that the department has received a request for assistance from the U.S. Capitol Police and the D.C. Homeland Security and Emergency Management Agency.

“Those agencies have asked for National Guard personnel to provide support at traffic control points in and around the District to help the USCP and DC government address potential challenges stemming from possible disruptions at key traffic arteries,” Kirby said. “No decisions have been made yet to approve these requests.”
