Christopher Borders, Winston Durham is also part of the WSU ROTC program. Borders says Durham joined the Guard in 2019.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy says he expects Russia to intensify attacks on Ukraine as Kyiv waits for the 's decision to grant it candidacy status.

Russian boat reportedly sunk while bringing supplies to Black Sea island made famous by Ukrainian guards. A Russian military tugboat carrying a surface-to-air missile launcher to Snake Island in the Black Sea sank after two Ukrainian missiles struck it, Kyiv announced Friday.

Russia condemns Lithuania transit ban to Kaliningrad, vows response. The Kremlin on Monday called Lithuania's decision to ban the transit of some goods to Russia's Kaliningrad region “unprecedented” and vowed to respond.

IN CRISIS

ISIL-affiliate gains ground in the Sahel as massacres mount. ISIL-affiliated fighters, whose power was once thought to be waning in the Sahel, have expanded their reach recently, marking their presence with an unprecedented series of attacks on civilians.

DR Congo welcomes deployment of regional force to fight rebels. The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) has welcomed Kenya's proposal to deploy a regional force to fight the M23 rebel group in the east of the country but said it won't accept neighbor Rwanda's participation.

US MILITARY AND SPACE

WTF NAVY? The Navy is firing a lot of officers and saying almost nothing about it. Since May 31, six commanding officers and one command master chief have lost their jobs.

America's shame: About 14 percent of military families are food insecure. American service members and their families are going hungry, and needs to fix this.

SHOULD DOD HELP TROOPS KILL THEIR UNBORN BABIES? – House Democrat lawmakers demand standardized leave policies, financial support for service members seeking abortions. House lawmakers urged Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin on Friday to expand access for service members and their families as the Supreme Court looks to overturn a landmark law preventing states from outlawing the procedure.

SHOULD DOD PROVIDE ELECTIVE GENDER TRANSITION SURGERIES? – Transgender veterans still waiting on VA's promise of surgery options. One year after Veterans Affairs officials announced they would take steps to provide gender confirmation surgeries for transgender veterans, no procedures have been completed and none are likely to be scheduled for months to come.
